Magnets are useful parts of our everyday lives. They make motors work. They keep cabinets closed. They also do many unexpected things that appear to be impossible until we understand them. This book explores the useful and amazing world of magnets. The experiments and demonstrations in this book use inexpensive ring magnets and common household items such as paper clips, string and metal washers. The eBook contains eleven movies demonstrating some of the experiments like floating a magnetized pin to make a magnet, and using magnetic repulsion to create an anti-gravity effect. Questions accompany each experiment to encourage exploration beyond the book. There's also a section on using magnets across the curriculum. The author was head science teacher at Science in the City Summer Camp.
